Welcome to Dance Umbrella for South Coast Oregon

DUSCO is dedicated to the art of dance in all of its forms. We promote dance education through workshops, scholarships and performances, and we support dance as a performing art, through Ballet Pacific.

Way to go dancers!

DUSCODance Umbrella for South Coast Oregon (DUSCO) has remained true to it’s mission since 1993. DUSCO has brought performances to stages, schools, conferences and senior centers throughout Coos County. Each fall DUSCO sponsors open auditions for Eugene Ballet’s “The Nutcracker”. This holiday classic delights audiences while giving young dancers the opportunity to perform on stage with professionals.

To help further the pre-professional training offered by Pacific School of Dance, DUSCO has provided scholarships to students who have been accepted to summer intensive training programs such as Summer Dance Lab, School of Oregon Ballet Theater, American Ballet Theater and University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

By bringing master teachers and choreographers to our local area, DUSCO enhances training and vision for both students and dance educators. Through educational outreach programs children of all ages are exposed to the art of dance and the power of creative arts.

ballet-pacific-logoDance Umbrella’s student performing company has been delighting audiences on Oregon’s South Coast since 1994. In the spring of 2009 Artistic Directors Connie Hogge and Christine Rader transitioned the student company into Ballet Pacific, the South Coast’s premier youth ballet company.

At the peak of their performing season, Ballet Pacific presents new choreography and costumes in it’s annual Spring Gala.

Ballet Pacific collaborates with other youth ballet companies in the state of Oregon. Company dancers have attended workshops and performed with Portland Youth Ballet at the One World Trade Center in Portland, and with Eugene Youth Ballet at the Northwest Dance Festival in Eugene.

pacific-dance-logoPacific School of Dance (PSD) is the official school of Ballet Pacific. However, dancers with a strong ballet background from all area schools are invited to audition. The partnership between the strong training at PSD and the opportunities provided by DUSCO has afforded local dancers opportunities not usually available to children who live outside large metropolitan areas.
